The Red Rickshaw Revolution Story

Red Rickshaw Revolution, a Vodafone Foundation initiative, aims to celebrate the achievements of ordinary women doing work from all walks of life. The initiative was first started in the year 2013 as a rickshaw journey from Delhi to Mumbai to celebrate the achievements of 50 inspirational women. These "real" but "unsung" heroes of life undoubtedly have given rise to a "revolution" which would be taken forward as a motivational story to the ones who wish to make this society a better place to live.

The Red Rickshaw Revolution journey started last year in 2013. It was a 12-day journey to five states across the country to identify ordinary women doing extraordinary work. Our team went to each woman's home and stumbled upon exceptional details about each of them. The journey was highlighted on social media and the celebration was used for fundraising to further invest in three women-centric organizations.

The Red Rickshaw Revolution 2014
The Red Rickshaw Revolution 2014 started on 28th November, 2014, covering 8 states and unveiling another 20 extraordinary women. This time round, the focus is on women in governance who are currently occupying a leadership position in the Panchayat. These women have stood against all odds to reach where they are today and are doing incredible work in their respective Panchayat. As a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication, Vodafone Foundation and Digital Empowerment Foundation will set up a digital Community Information Resource Centre (dCIRC) in the respective Panchayat.
